About Gabrielle Cataldi

Hello!  Welcome to my blog!  My name is Gabrielle Cataldi.  I have been writing since I was 13 years old and have amassed many poems, short stories and novels.  Over the years I have found there are a lot of distractions to take away from the writing experience.  I have a 15-year-old son, and over the years his endless need to play and ask questions made sitting down to a quiet time of writing nearly impossible.  I home school my son, cook for the family, have a full-time job, college classes to complete and two dogs to take care of, so my life is a bit hectic.  With these obstacles finishing a project or even a thought can seem impossible.  In this blog I will go through some of the writing struggles I have gone through and what I did to overcome them.  Along with these anecdotes I will chronicle my journey of getting my work published.

I have won awards in school for my creative writing.  My most recent was from Atlantic Cape Community College for my creative non-fiction short story.  I am currently going to Drexel University for my bachelor’s degree in communication.  I am part of the Sigma Kappa Delta English honor society. I am an avid reader and write every day.

I was born in Philadelphia and moved to Hammonton, NJ when I was six years old.  I lived on a ten-acre farm in which my father kept horses and goats.  I attended riding lessons as soon as we moved and participated in competitions.  I am not a very competitive person and I just liked to ride for pleasure.  So shortly after, I gave up the competition route.  I started writing in order to help me get through school.  I had a hard time with the other kids bullying me and I felt horrible about most things about myself.  Writing was my outlet.

What first was an outlet started to become something I enjoyed and found I was good at.  It slowly became my passion and it has led me here to you!  I hope I can help those that are struggling with writing, to know they are not alone and there are plenty of things to do to get out of the rut.  I will also offer my opinion on pieces I have read, books and even movies.  Just to give the blog a bit of diversity.  I hope you come back to visit, I invite you to follow the blog as there will be new content to come.  I have started up my podcast now as I am expanding my creativity and bringing more content to you.  Enjoy!
