Top Five Favorite Foods
To break up the seriousness of my other posts, I wanted to bring back my top 5 lists. Coming out of 2022 and starting the new year everyone has their resolutions. I have already said my stance on resolutions. Especially when it comes to weight loss. Maybe because I am bitter, but I think anytime is a good time to want to be healthier. Not just the beginning part of the year. So, in honor of all that here are my top five favorite foods. Enjoy!
1. Cheeseburgers
Now I am not talking about any cheeseburgers. This isn’t pulling into a drive-through and picking up a deal. I mean a good cheeseburger. I have gone to my fair share of restaurants and only a few have had a decent burger. Silver-Diner stands out, (link) they use grass-fed beef and cook it to perfection. One you should try if you haven’t.
I was never one for melted cheese or just cheese sauce. I think it was the texture and I preferred the aged stinky cheese. However, in my old age, I have come to enjoy nachos with the queso and everything else. To the point where I will crave them and I will either order them from somewhere or make them myself. If you are on the fence, I say give it another go, you may end up enjoying it.
2. Nachos
3. Smartfood White Cheddar Popcorn
After evaluating my favorites, I have come to realize I tend towards the saltier things. I like aged cheese, which can be ridiculously salty, and this popcorn is on the salty side. When I was younger I used to have the Herrs white cheddar popcorn. I can’t remember if they had discontinued it or changed it, but I had stopped getting it. Then years later I picked up the Smartfood white cheddar and let me tell you I have never turned back. I had recently come across the Herrs again, however, it does not taste anywhere near to what I remember. If you haven’t tried either one, I say give them a try, but I am sure you will lean toward the Smartfood brand. They have other flavors to try as well. White Cheddar is just the best.
I’m not much of a breakfast person. It is my least favorite set of foods. Anytime my parents would go out for breakfast I would just have a bagel with cream cheese and a side of pork roll. My mom would also make me some in the morning before school. As the years progressed in school, that stopped because I couldn’t stomach food due to my anxiety about having to go to school. But moving on from that, pork roll sandwiches are probably one of the best things you will ever eat. Make sure it is Taylor brand, they are the one and only.
4. Pork Roll
5. Sweet Gherkins
Not dill pickles, not sandwich pickles, but some awesome sweet gherkins. My mom would get them every Thanksgiving. I continue that tradition. However, every so often I will treat myself and get them off holiday time. You also can’t forget the gherkin juice. Yes, I am one of those weirdos that drink the juice. If you don’t, you are just missing out. There have been studies that pickle juice has some benefits. There are obviously not all I eat. I’ve seen the scale, yikes! But this gives you some idea od my go to foods. If you haven’t tried any of them, go for it. Maybe it will be your new favorite.
